Ethiopia: Yirgacheffe Abiyot Ageze

Marshmallow. Coconut. Lemon.

I really love Ethiopian coffee. This wet processed lot from the washing station of Abiyot Ageze was a standout for me. Produced by 600 small farms surrounding the washing plant, this coffee is grown at a very high elevation using heirloom varietals crafted by Ethiopian farmers for centuries. If you were a fan of my previous Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, you will see many similarities. This lot presents the same berry and lemon notes, with more focus on sweetness and floral aromatics. This one reminds me of, I kid you not, buttered popcorn flavored Jelly Bellys, my wife says toasted marshmallow. In other words, tons of sweetness! Delicious, I recommend brewing in a Chemex to capture those delicate floral notes.
